ST. SCHOLASTICA’S COLLEGE

St. Scholastica’s College - Manila is a Catholic institution of higher learning professionally managed by the Benedictine sisters with their lay partners. It aims to transform students into agents of social change through the Benedictine tradition of service to God and neighbors, academic excellence, and social responsibility. Since it opened its door in 1906, it has maintained the highest level of scholastic standards in all its curriculum programs. Today, SSC’s thrust of “Education for Justice and Social Transformation” has enabled it to remain abreast with the demands of the times.

St. Scholastica’s College believes that individuals should blossom to their full potential. Thus, it commits to develop, challenge, and enable its students to set and achieve their personal and educational goals; as well as to understand their relationship to their socio-economic, political, cultural, technological, and natural environments.

To achieve this mission, St. Scholastica’s College provides students access to excellent programs that are steeped in the liberal arts tradition and develop the skills of inquiry, critical and creative thinking, interdisciplinary learning, gender sensitivity, and compassion. These skills further prepare students for successful careers and foster in them a personal commitment to lifelong learning. The school is able to meet these ends not only via its relevant academic programs supported by state-of-the-art facilities but more importantly through its pool of qualified and competent administrators and faculty who use innovative student-centered learning and teaching strategies.

DID YOU KNOW?
St. Scholastica was the twin sister of St. Benedict. The school’s motto is Ora et Labora meaning “Prayer and Work”, which comes from the Holy Rule written by St. Benedict.
