UNIVERSITY OF
ASIA AND THE PACIFIC
The
University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) traces its beginnings to the
Center of Research and Communication (CRC). CRC was established 40 years ago
as a think-tank conducting research and offering graduate courses in
economics and management. It gradually expanded its education activities
and, in 1995, was awarded university status by the Department of Education,
Culture, and Sports. Since then, CRC has become known as the University of
Asia and the Pacific.
In its institutional programs and activities, UA&P puts due emphasis on the
individual, the family, the community, and the world. Each unit of the
University thus strives to be a center of excellence, particularly in three
areas: values formation, people development, and research and communication.
These are hallmark programs of UA&P as an educational institution. The
spiritual and doctrinal formation given in the University is entrusted to
Opus Dei, a Personal Prelature of the Catholic Church.
Currently, UA&P has a population of around 2,000 undergraduate and graduate
students and employs about 500 full-time and part-time faculty members. The
university has so far produced a total of around 4,000 alumni.
Because the student population is small and teachers are highly qualified
and dedicated, the students get excellent education. Even more so since the
University focuses on developing the whole person, as well as combining
breadth of learning and professional specialization in its educational
programs.

DID YOU KNOW?
The University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) was founded by former
Philippine Department of Finance Secretary Dr. Jesus P. Estanislao and

private voluntary organization with core operations in research and
communication, together with training programs in industrial economics.

the basis of the results of their entrance exam, their high school academic
performance, and financial status.
A. Merit Scholarships
Merit Scholarships are highly competitive study grants that may cover up to
100% of tuition fees. In addition, the top applicants of each batch may also
be awarded stipend, book allowance, and board and lodging allowance (for
provincial applicants).
Valedictorians of selected high schools will receive a 100% tuition fee
grant. Salutatorians of selected high schools, on the other hand, will
receive 50% tuition fee grant. Additionally, an applicant whose high school
average is at least 90% and is highly qualified in the UA&P College Entrance
Exam receives a grant depending on his overall rank and availability of
scholarship slots.
B. Financial Aid
The University also gives financial assistance to Filipino students who meet
certain criteria. The grant covers up to 100% of tuition fees. It is
renewable every year and is premised on continued financial need. It may

To qualify for financial aid, an applicant must meet the following minimum
conditions
• Financial need, as attested by the family’s finances
• Academic competence: a high school average of at least 85%
• Positive interview evaluation
Note: The Financial Aid Grant is open only to students whose family’s gross
annual income is less than P500,000.00.
Assistantship
Financial aid grantees must render some hours of student assistantship in a
unit of the University to which one may be assigned for one school year. The
number of hours to be rendered depends on the percentage of the grant
awarded to the student.
